Welcome to Walgreens?

Blake here:  On the last day of July in 2013 Philadelphia opened the doors to a new breed of Walgreens, and the first of its kind in the state of Pennsylvania.  Located at the corner of Broad and Chestnut Streets welcome to Walgreens on steroids.  I mean when was the last time you got fro yo at a Walgreens?  Or used a digital interface to see how a certain makeup would look on your gorgeousness before you made the purchase, ladies?  Well you can here.

Then - as Borders

Previously this was a place to feed the mind as Borders.  Now you can feed it all with food, cosmetics, reading materials, and medication within the newly renovated 3-story space.  And to add to the Philadelphia experience inside you'll find areas dedicated to local favorites such as the Crayola, Philadelphia Water Ice, Hershey's, Center City Pretzel, and Just Born companies.  Check it out for yourself, this is no ordinary Walgreens.

FIRM CRAWL @ JKRP!

PhilaNOMA's first (and now probably annual) Firm Crawl went off without a hitch!

I can honestly say that I was a little pessimistic in thinking that we would only get about 5 or so students - especially after such a long afternoon of crawling already (we were about number 4 on the list of firms to visit)

And then it rained.
And then they were delayed.
And then someone said the pretzels were going to get stale.
And then I yelled at Sean for eating a pretzel.

But nevertheless at around 4:45 there were almost 30 students from Temple, UPenn, Drexel and Philly U in our elevator lobby - eager and ready to learn all about our home away from home - JKR Partners!

Building is Back!

Lawrence Street.  4 units.  Sam and Jose worked on this one. It's all done.

North 5th Street.  22 units. Should be done in a few months.

1247 Crease Street. Greg and Jose worked on this bad boy.  7 houses. Should be done in 6 months.

Manayunk Hills.  12 units, Jason and Steve slam dunked this one. Maybe 3 months out.

Manayunk Hills.  Getting there. 

we've done a lot right? This one is at 8th and Christian. All done. 18 units.

Queens Walk.  16 units. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's pretty nice inside.

More Queens Walk in Queens Village.

This one is the latest.  412 N. Front Street.  32 units.  Should be done in a few months.

 Building is Back.  Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.  We've been cranking out townhouses this past year like it's our job.  Mostly because it IS our job. Jose and his crew have been hard at work developing a ton of new housing stock in the Northern Liberties and Fishtown areas of the city.  We've got a few in the pipeline and a few in various stages of construction.  Check'em out

Winner winner, chicken dinner...

Farinella here - After being kept in suspense all week about our mystery outing, the first annual JKRP Scavenger Hunt was a huge success. From the Art Museum to Independence Hall, I think I saw more of Philadelphia in 3 hours than I have in all my years of being in the city…Lead by our fearless captain Bob, our team of Katie, Izzo, Sam, and myself got off to a blistering start and never looked back. With bragging rights (and very desirable prize on the line), the team’s planning, hustle, and last minute heroics were enough to edge out the competition and become the first OFFICIAL winners. After an exciting and exhausting day, Victory tasted sweet and I am looking forward to defending our team legacy come next year.

Hum... Better late than never??

 On December 23 (at about 11:09pm) our very own Samantha Chan Kim gave birth to a beautiful little girl named Isabelle!
Isabelle weighed in at 6lbs, 4oz...

The perfect little package right in time for Christmas :)




Sam - Here are a couple of thoughts from your JKRP family -

1. You are not allowed to combine Isabelle's birthday presents with Christmas presents.
2. Isabelle is not allowed to learn AutoCAD until she is at least 12. That would be child abuse.

We would like to send our Love and Congratulations to Sam and her husband Ed on their little miracle!!

Dee Dee Here:  Jerry, Matt, Samantha, and I attended the Preservation Achievement Awards this week.  The luncheon was held at the Crystal Tea Room at the Wanamaker Building.  Presser Senior Apartments received a Grand Jury Award for the renovation of this National Register-listed building.  Next up is the adjacent Nugent Home, which is also slated for rehabilitation!

Presser Dedication

DeeDee Here- Today was the dedication for Presser Senior Apartments in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia.  Matt, Sam, Marissa and I played a significant role in restoring this historically significant building into 45 mixed income apartments.  Presser Senior Apartments was recently awarded a 2011 Preservation Alliance of Greater Philadelphia Grand Jury Prize. Our client Jim Nolen of Nolen Properties cut the ribbon with Mayor Nutter, Councilwoman Miller, Peter Kaplan of PNC Bank, and Brian Hudson of PHFA.
